Long-Term Junior expert (minimum of 550 working days)
In addition to the short-term experts, one long-term, junior expert shall
be provided for a position as “Visibility and Communication expert”.
The position is preferably full time. Should this not be the case, the number
working days will have to be justified in the Organisation & Methodology. In
any event, a minimum of 550 working days shall be foreseen, representing
a part-time position covering the whole duration of the project and ensuring
presence is evenly distributed through the project life.
An indicative profile of this expert is given below. Please note that this expert
will not be part of the tender evaluation but his/her recruitment will be subject
to the approval of the EU.
Qualifications and skills
•
University or equivalent degree of at least three years in a relevant
discipline.
•
Capability in problem analysis, message development, awareness
campaign design, implementation and evaluation, population surveys.
•
Proven ability to network and a wide range of contacts among various
media.
•
Proficiency in both Chinese and English.
•
Familiarity with EC procedures and reporting requirements an asset.
•
Creativity, resourcefulness and efficiency in work.
•
Computer literacy.
General professional experience
•
5 years of relevant professional experience
•
Experience with capacity and institutional development an asset.
•
Substantial experience in environmental communication an asset.
•
Demonstrated ability in leadership and management
Specific professional experience
•
Experience in public bodies or international organisations an asset
•
Experience in mass media design and production
•
Experience in environmental public awareness campaigns
•
Specific development experience in China an asset.

China’s Fire Safety Regulations – Compliance with New Policies July 27, Tuesday, 18:00-20:00. Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel AmCham Shanghai’s Design and Construction Committee invites you to a seminar on Tuesday, July 27 at the Renaissance Zhongshan Park that focuses on China’s fire safety regulations. Last year, China’s Fire Safety Law was amended and a number of major changes were made, including the process of government approval for a project.

This program will focus on:

• How the new Fire Safety Law impacts the fire protection practice among all stakeholders
• How overseas loss prevention practices compare with local Chinese practices
• The application of Chinese codes versus international codes for multinational companies doing projects in China.

This event is co-sponsored by the China Fire Protection Association, and promises to be an excellent opportunity to interact with a wide variety of professionals, including government officials responsible for fire safety regulations. Panelists will share thoughts on the challenges facing the implemention of the new fire code regulations and how facility owners, designers and project managers should best be prepared to comply with the new regulations.

About the Panelists:

Fang Li is executive vice president of China operations for Rolf Jensen and Associates (RJA). She has been responsible for the RJA Shanghai office since 2004. She was authorized by the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) to operate the SFPE China chapter and was elected as the founding chairman. Upon graduation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in December 2000, Ms. Li joined RJA as a fire engineering consultant after working at the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association ) Chemical group. Her work included applying modeling protocols for fire dynamic analysis, smoke control analysis and egress analysis, as well as code analysis and consultation. Ms. Li has worked on significant projects in China using performance-based design and is part of a team that develops performance-based design technical guidelines for China. Ms. Li was awarded the Silver medal by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.

Paul Mayles is the Shanghai-based, Greater China engineering manager for FM Global and has worked for the company for 15 years. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s loss prevention engineering services across their four offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Operating with a team of 25 engineers, FM Global provides engineering consulting services to more than 1,200 client locations and 80 green field projects across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. This entails risk surveys and ongoing consultations for existing facilities, as well as loss prevention project services for new and upgraded projects. FM Global’s work extends to automotive suppliers, semi-conductor, food and beverage manufacturers, machine shops, electronics manufacturers, power generation enterprises and software development campuses. Prior to his work in Shanghai, Paul was manager for FM Global in Southern China, based in Hong Kong for five years. How Rural Biogas and Coal Mine Methane are Providing Clean Energy to China

Methane is 22 times more powerful than CO2 in its heat trapping capabilities and is one of six greenhouse gases controlled by the clean development mechanism under the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). It also presents a particular problem for China’s coal mining sector as it becomes explosive when it mixes with oxygen at certain levels. The capture and utilization of methane can not only limit our impact on global warming, but also provide various other benefits.
