About the Speaker:

Jeffrey D. Sachs is the Director of The Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, and Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University. He is also Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. From 2002 to 2006, he was Director of the UN Millennium Project and Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan on the Millennium Development Goals, the internationally agreed goals to reduce extreme poverty, disease, and hunger by the year 2015. Sachs is also President and Co-Founder of Millennium Promise Alliance, a nonprofit organization aimed at ending extreme global poverty. Adam is a co-founder of Silk Ventures Group, a trading/sourcing company with 7 years business experience in Shanghai and China. Silk Ventures is focused on the sourcing and worldwide distribution of energy efficient lighting in an effort to counterbalance the negative effects of climate change. They are in the process of building a new brand of LED and CFL lighting, Etrilum (www.etrilum.com), to further their efforts. Adam’s awareness and passion for the urgent need for environmental protection stems partially from his living experiences in London, Seoul, Shanghai and Canada as well as traveling to 20+ countries (most notably India).

The office, on Fa Hua Zhen Lu near Yan An Xi Lu metro station, achieved 43 points to just eclipse to mark of 42 to become a Platinum office.

Tandus‘ carpets were able to help achieve LEED points in areas such as Regional Materials with the factory in SuZhou, recycled content with roughly 20-23% total recycled content, and more!

Congrats to DNA Green Design on becoming the first office in China to achieve Platinum for their LEED-CI project. This is a terrific accomplishment and shows that anything is truly possible in China. This will hopefully be the first of many more Platinum projects sprouting up all over China.
