What a lot of people in the West are trying to get away from is a dependence, crippling dependence, on the Middle East and other oil rich countries for their natural resources which run their countries.
China is viewing this as an amazing opportunity to turn the tables and have the West depend on China. So now China has a lot of oil? Not exactly…but they are leading in Green energy. Where are most of the solar panels made? What about wind turbines?
In a recent NYTimes op-ed piece, Bob Herbert explains,
“the West may someday trade its dependence on oil from the Mideast for a reliance on solar panels, wind turbines and other gear manufactured in China.”
So what is it going to take to have America and other countries in the West step up? Hopefully China continues to lead the way and drag other countries along.
“The low-carbon era is coming. We can be dragged into that newer, greener world by leading countries like China; or we can take up the challenge and become the world’s leader ourselves,” Bob writes.
