Shanghai’s very own Richard Brubaker was quoted in a recent Special Report in the NYtimes regarding the Eco cities falling through recently.
Sure, maybe the Government and different planners were being too ambitious but that is one great thing about being in China is that we can try. And keep trying these extremely ambitious, fast-paced goals.
Mr. Brubaker was quoted,
“The eco-city is not necessarily a solution,” he said. “But it’s a place where you can test potential solutions that scale out. None of these things can remain in a 300,000-person Petri dish.”
There are still other projects and plans moving along all the time here. The new ECO Building on Nanjing West Road in Shanghai will be an enormous and monumental accomplishment in Green building upon completion. Small groups and changes are happening everyday here. The more we can work together and find areas of cooperation, collaboration, and connections the more we will all accomplish in the end.
