Happy Water Day

From GreenBUZZ:

Taking Care of Business

By Joel Makower

Today is World Water Day, so deemed by the United Nations and celebrated each March 22 since 1993. All this week, we’ll be covering the business side of water issue: How companies are identifying and addressing their water impacts. It begins with a package of stories focusing on announcements by Pepsi and Nestlé about water-related commitments and achievements; U.K. biscuit-maker United Biscuits’ efforts to exceed its water-reduction commitments — and then repeatedly raise the bar; and Anheuser-Busch’s efforts to be the world’s greenest brewer.

Meanwhile, associate editor Tilde Herrera looks at how companies in water-vulnerable sectors are working to address risks and scarcity, and managing editor Matthew Wheeland interviews Chuck Gordon, CEO of Siemens Water Technologies, on the state of the art of water management.

Matt also flushes out the water-saving toilets of the future.

I also highly recommend Tilde’s report on Walmart’s little-known Supplier Energy Efficiency Program, the retailer’s effort to share with its suppliers the expertise it has accumulated through making its own clubs and super stores more efficient.
